Obtain a map here and check the course that you are going to take. Be sure to check the weather, too.
You can get a free panoramic map or pay for a hiking map.
It will be better to use the two maps together, as the panoramic map can be used to check the general topography and key points and the hiking map is convenient for learning about courses in detail. |

It takes about 30 minutes by streetcar or bus from downtown Innsbruck to Mt. Patscherkofel, which has the favorite place of the people of Innsbruck ? Zirbenweg. Zirbenweg, which means ¡Èa path of Zirbes¡É is a 7-km hiking course through the highlands 2,000 meters above sea level. Zirbes are pine trees used for building houses and making furniture by the Tirolian people. It is pleasant to walk through this hiking course because many fragrant Zirbe trees grow along it, and it is also easy for beginners to enjoy hiking because of the flat path. |

The course leading to the summit commands a panoramic view of Intal Valley and streets of Innsbruck below, and you can enjoy local cuisine of Tirol at the Boscheben Hut standing halfway through it.
On the way back, you can also take a gondola from the summit to the village of Tulfes at the foot of the mountain, where you can catch a bus to return to Igls, a neighboring town of Innsbruck.
The time required for hiking is about 3 hours. It may be short enough even if your schedule is a little tight. |
