At the foot of a mountain about 3 km west of the Rueisuei Station is Taiwan’s only sodium carbonate ferruginous chloride spring and the yellow spring water bubbling out is effective for such ailments as gout, gastrointestinal diseases, women's diseases, neuroparalytic diseases and dermatitis.
From the fact that boys are likely to be born after bathing in the water, it is called “Birth a Boy Spring”. In addition to individual and family baths, there is an open air bath (with bathing suit).

Hualien Hungye Hot Springs is a simple inn on the Hungye Stream another 2km in from the Rueisuei Hot Springs.
In individual rooms, there are large bath tubs and there is plenty of spring water. The odorless and colorless clear sodium carbonate spring water can be drank and is effective for such ailments as neuroparalytic diseases and arthritis.

To the south of Yuli, there is a stream of the costal mountains and the hot spring water is so plenty that it flows into the river.
It is a sodium sulfide spring with colorless clear water with a faint smell of sulfur and is effective for such ailments as wounds, skin diseases and gastrointestinal diseases.
In addition to individual baths of rock and tile, there are large men’s and women’s baths and open air baths (with bathing suits).

Dolphin and whale watching is a hot topic now in eastern Taiwan. There is an excellent spot about 10km offshore where dolphins and whales looking for food frequently appear.
The Hualien and Shiti harbors are famous for whale watching and the Shiti Harbor’s “Sea Whale”, which started service as Taiwan’s first dolphin watching boat, is popular.

The season is from mid-May to start of autumn and the success rate for encounters with dolphins and whales for Shiti Harbor’s “Sea Whale” tours is over 90%. If you don’t encounter a dolphin or whale, don’t worry because you can get a new ticket.
With the sun shining on the ocean, the healing effect of just seeing innocently frolicking dolphins on the sparkling surface of the water is tremendous. The aroma of the sea air and the good feeling of the sea breeze can’t be beat.
