Colorado's Ultimate Tourist Destination
Walking Around Colorado Springs
Strolling through downtown, visitors are treated to the sight of Pikes Peak, and Manitou Springs is highly recommended for the free samples of mineral spring water from taps found on street corners.
As other sightseeing spots are a 15- to 30-minute drive from downtown, having a rental car is a convenient way to get around.
U.S. Olympic Training Center - Colorado Springs
Located in downtown Colorado Springs, this facility is the training facility for Olympic and Paralympic athletes representing the USA.
Guided tours are available for such facilities as swimming, basketball and shooting.
The center also features various Olympic-related exhibitions.
Pikes Peak
Standing to the west of the city is 4,300 meter high Pikes Peak and a 4,400 km2 nationally protected forest, showcasing the great outdoors of Colorado.
To get to the summit, either drive on Pikes Peak Highway or take the Pikes Peak Cog Railway departing from Manitou Springs.
While ascending the summit, each step higher provides visitors with a constantly changing spectacle.
Pikes Peak
At the top, the summit provides breathtaking panoramic views of the continental divide, the magnificent Rocky Mountains and the city of Denver in the distance.
Temperatures at the summit are likely to be quite low even at mid summer however, so a thick and warm jacket is necessary.
Garden of the Gods
Located 10 km west of Colorado Springs, a group of red sandy rocks stand near the gate to the Pikes Peak, creating a mysterious landscape.
The area is known as the ∪Garden of the Gods∩ and the largest is said to reach over 100 meters in height.
Several of these gigantic stones stand on tiny fulcrums, and appear as though they could fall at any moment.
