as the ∪Mile High City.∩
Although a contemporary
American city, at the same time, it is also
rich in history and the cultural heritage
of the American West, and a wonderful place
to take in the grand spectacle of the great
outdoors of Colorado, including the Rocky
Mountains. |

One of the
world∏s largest airports, the exterior
of Denver International Airport's Jeppesen
Terminal features an innovative design
that dispels the stereotypical image of
a facility of this type, and offers an
uniquely shaped translucent roof that evokes
the white peaks of the nearby Rocky Mountains.
Each
concourse and the central atrium of the
terminal building are connected via an
underground train located on Level 4 (1st
Basement Level). |
 |
 |
Checking your
departure concourse beforehand is highly
recommended.
Level 5 (1st Floor)
features the baggage claim area, ground transportation
to downtown, sightseeing and hotel information.
Upon arrival to the airport, first take the train to the terminal building.
The information booth in the central atrium of the terminal provides passengers
with travel information, and airport shuttle bus tickets and car rentals can
be arranged here as well. |
| Service from the
airport to major downtown hotels takes roughly
30 minutes and costs 15 dollars for a one-way
ticket. |
| Buses depart from
the downtown Denver Greyhound Bus Terminal
with service to Dallas (about 17 hrs), El
Paso (about 17 hrs), Salt Lake City (about
10 hrs), Chicago (about 22 hrs), Colorado
Springs (about 1.5 hrs), Grand Junction (about
4.5 hrs) and other major cities. |
Located on the
northern edge of downtown, Union Station
is a roughly 20 minute walk on foot from
the center of downtown.
Trains run to and
from Emeryville, Salt Lake City, Reno and
Chicago, with winter ski train service to
areas such as Winter Park in the Denver suburbs. |
