Cairns International Airport is located roughly 6km to the north of the city. City Airporter, an airport shuttle bus service operated by Australia Coach, is the most common and convenient way to the city center, and you can get off at designated hotels throughout the city. Transit time from the airport to downtown is approximately 20 minutes.
With its proximity to downtown, taxi fare from the airport runs around $15. If you are traveling with someone, taking a cab might be more economical than the City Airporter. |
| This fixed route bus runs north along the coast, connecting the city center and Palm Cove. The bus departs from and arrives at the transit mall near City Place and route maps and timetables may be obtained from the driver. Sunbus offers nearly ten routes in total, including one bound for Skyrail Station in Kuranda. |
