| 【SPECIAL】 A lively city with the inviting smiles of the fairies |
| |
Cork is the second-most populous city in Ireland, after Dublin. This “floating city” was developed on a shoal of the River Lee. Traces of the days when Cork bustled as a commercial city are visible in quays, old storehouses and elsewhere. After sightseeing, visit an Irish pub to enjoy some stout and animated live music. Drink with the friendly Irish. |

Blarney Castle
| Blarney Castle, about 15 kilometers from downtown, stands amidst a peaceful pastoral landscape. Although the castle itself is in ruins, this is one of the nation's most famous places of interest. Built in 1446, the castle was the residence of a noble family. Its beautiful premises are kept in good condition. A druidical stone circle, a dungeon and other places of interest are nearby. |

St. Anne's Church
| This church, with its black clock atop a gray tower, sits on a hilltop in the Shandon district on the north shore of the River Lee. The bell tower, which looks like a pepper pot, has been the pride of the citizenry since the foundation of this city. Visitors who climb to the top of the 37-meter bell tower receive a certificate. |

St. Finn Barre's Cathedral
| This beautiful French-Gothic cathedral stands in a quiet area along the southern bank of the River Lee. Cork traces is history to when St. Finn Barre built a church and a seminary here in the 7th century. Its beautiful pointed arch, which is common in French-Gothic buildings, was added during reconstruction in 1878. The cathedral is lit up in the evening, showing an aspect not seen in daytime. |
